How much does it cost to rent a piano?
The most important thing to remember when renting a piano is that it will provide a quality instrument, and most likely cost less in the long run than getting a portable keyboard or free piano that needs work. We know that there are portable keyboards and inexpensive/free pianos out there, but there is usually a reason for this. Portable keyboards usually don't come with things a student needs to be successful in piano lessons. Inexpensive or free pianos usually need a lot of work to become a quality instrument, and some are in such bad condition, you may spend money on a piano that can't be fixed. Rental plans can start at just $39/month. You get peace of mind knowing you have a quality instrument with no hidden repair costs. Plus, up to six months of rent you pay can be applied toward purchase if you decide you want to keep the piano. If you decide the piano isn't for you, send it back after the six month rental period (see store for piano rental details).

Why rent a piano instead of using a keyboard?
Renting a piano has many benefits. It is extremely important for a beginning student to have a quality instrument with certain requirements. Most teachers do not approve of portable keyboards since they don't have these basics needs for piano study:
• 88 full-sized keys
• Weighted keys: ability to play with dynamic expressive control (soft to loud)
• It must be tuned to A-440 pitch and have quality tone
• It must have pedals (at least sustaining and soft pedal)

 

Why rent a piano instead of buy a piano?
There aren't many places you can go to if you want to "Try before you buy". However, at Foster Family Music, if you are uncertain about purchasing a piano, don't buy – rent. Can you rent a piano for an event or only for a home?
Most common rentals are to families who want to play the piano. However, in addition to piano rentals for families and students, we rent pianos for special events. We are able to accommodate for short term as well as long term rentals (grand pianos, upright pianos, Clavinovas, etc.). Contact us for details on pricing for event rentals.
